What is Performing Pathways?

At its heart, this programme is about helping young people grow – not just as performers, but as people. Over the course of a week, students will develop confidence, creativity, collaboration and compassion through the joy of performing arts. These are life skills that will stay with them long after the final curtain.

Why do we believe in this?

Because performing arts change young people. We’ve seen it. A shy child who finds their voice on stage. A quiet child who discovers they can lead. A group of children who’ve never met before, becoming a team. The stage gives young people permission to be brave – and that bravery follows them into classrooms, friendships and life.

Who are the professional Artists?

The Artists aren’t just workshop leaders, they’re professional performers who have appeared in some of the biggest shows on the London stage, including Annie, Mamma Mia! and Cats. The students will be in inspiring company. These Artists have performed night after night in front of thousands, and for this week, they’re here to share their skills, their stories and their secrets.

Is the workshop suitable for everyone?

Students aren’t just joining a workshop – they’re joining a cast. Theatre isn’t about one person shining, it’s about a team – every single person playing their part, lifting each other up, making something together that can’t be made alone; this process makes theatre an inclusive experience for all young people.

During the week they will work with students from their school and other local schools – some they might know, some they won’t. By the end of the week, they’ll be a performing cast, and there’s nothing quite like that feeling.

Is there anything we need to bring?

Catering is not available on site. Students should bring their own packed lunch and snacks to last the day, plus a refillable water bottle.

It would be helpful for students to bring a notepad and pen to use throughout the week.

Students should wear comfortable rehearsal clothing and suitable footwear.
