Our Approach

Arts International’s approach is to create long-term partnerships with schools, structured around a programme of week-long residencies.

Each is designed to address a particular need, from the school’s holistic development plan (SDP), expressed through and aligned with the performing arts agenda. Arts International then assembles a team of leading performers from TV, film, and the theatre to work with students, teachers and parents to maximise our impact, align a culture, and bring the school community together.

At its simplest, this has involved taking cast members from musicals, Hamilton, Mary Poppins, Grease, Matilda and Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, to support and challenge students in their own school productions. One common feature is that the quality of engagement, performance and risk taking increases exponentially when met with the higher expectations of original cast members.

At our core our aim is to develop four competencies which will prepare students better for University and work beyond. By developing confidence, creativity, collaboration and compassion we will help prepare the next generation of medics, lawyers, engineers, consultants, managers, partners, parents and friends.

Examples of residencies

Curtain Up

The ideal way to introduce the whole school community to an Arts International partnership with fun and interactive workshops based on your choice of theme, discussion or topic, hosted by our inspiring Artists.

A SHOW IN A DAY

Arts Intl challenge the students to become creative theatre makers by learning material from five different shows over five days. Having the opportunity to showcase all they have achieved to parents and peers builds confidence and compassion.

Exits and Entrances

Supporting students, staff and parents through important transitions such as moving schools, transitioning from Primary to Secondary and leaving for university with workshops, mentoring and expertise.

FINDING MY VOICE - For Students

Developing the first competency of Confidence. Students learn to stand in the spotlight, deliver words written by others and ultimately develop their ability in public speaking to promote their own agenda for change.

FINDING MY VOICE - For TEACHERS

Helps develop the teacher's most important tool and technology - their own voice. Teachers will develop 'executive presence' to challenge and support groups of students in the most impactful way.

PREPARING FOR YOUR PRODUCTIONS

Your school may be preparing to perform a current West End hit, a schools version of a classic musical, or a bespoke piece of theatre. We pair exciting and current artists with relevant production experience and technology to role model and collaborate with students and faculty to ensure. your shows exceed all expectations.

Fabulous Finale

Arts International can enhance your end of year event or show with creative ideas, vibrant energy, the support of our awe-inspiring artists, special guests, and even VIP performances.

Jumeirah College, Dubai

The college wished to smooth the transition of their new Year 7’s into ‘Big School’. Year 13 students, the most senior, were taught not only a routine from a show, but also how to teach it to the incoming juniors. On day one of the new term, the new intake met their peers, learned their routines and performed to an audience of their parents.

This was an event of music and mass coordination, supplemented by performances from Arts International’s cast of artists. The impact of this intervention lasted well into the academic year, the bonds between the year 13’s and 7’s flourished as an informal mentoring system brought members of the community together as never before.

My son has Asperger’s. He hated the loud music, but you gave him his own role as Front of House Manager and he loved it. He found a purpose and is flourishing.
I know my daughter will be ok here now, she has friends.
There wasn’t a dry eye in that hall.

The Four Cs

The University of Chicago and our partnership with the Centre for High Performance has, for two decades,  shown us through their research into what creates a ‘High Performance Environment’, that behaviours are critical. They identified that behaviours around valuing people, critical thinking, and seizing opportunities underpin outstanding performance in working groups regardless of sector, location, or seniority.

Arts International has taken these criteria and adapted them for a student population, leading to the four Cs:

Confidence | Creativity | Collaboration | Compassion

Competences that will allow students to perform, in both senses, at school and be more successful in higher education, at work and as a partner, parent and friend.

Our Approach
Performing Arts supports the development of community, it gives schools a heartbeat and creates a sense of togetherness. Children learn best when they feel a sense of belonging.
